Feds Raid Ilhan Omar’s D.C. Home in Criminal Probe Tied to Immigration Paperwork

Federal agents executed a search warrant at the Washington, D.C., home of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) early Monday morning as part of what the Justice Department calls an ongoing criminal investigation. Homeland Security Investigations agents carried out the search, which began around 6 a.m., according to Fox News Digital, which first reported the operation. Multiple agents wearing HSI jackets were seen outside the home. “Today in the Washington, D.C. area, Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant,” a Justice Department spokesperson said, adding, “This enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation.”

The department did not name Omar in its statement or describe what agents were looking for. Sources told ABC News the investigation relates to Omar’s immigration paperwork, and two sources close to the case told Fox News Digital the probe focuses on immigration documents her late father filled out for her when she was a child. No charges have been filed, and Omar has not been accused of any crime in court. The Associated Press reported that a request for comment was sent to Omar’s office Monday, and no response was immediately reported.

Details & Background

Omar, 44, represents Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District, which includes Minneapolis. She came to the United States as a child refugee from Somalia, was first elected to Congress in 2018 and is one of the best-known members of the progressive “Squad.” For years she has faced allegations that she married her brother as part of an immigration scheme, claims she has repeatedly and flatly denied. Those allegations have never been proven in court.
